To Media Organizations in Nigeria
Dear Sir/Ma,
LETTER FOR SUPPORT
It is our pleasure introducing our initiative to you, MEDIA 2015 PROJECT, a project initiated by MEDIA PARTNERSHIP INITIATIVE FOR DEVELOPMENT (MPID) a non-governmental organization supporting the Millennium Development Goals activities and events in and out side Nigeria.
Our country along with almost every other country in the world agreed at the United Nations Millennium Summit in 2000, in help to achieve the Millennium Development Goals by 2015.The 8 goals are:
q GOAL 1
Eradicate Extreme Poverty and Hunger.
q GOAL 2
Achieve Universal Primary Education.
q GOAL 3
Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women.
q GOAL4
Reduce Child Mortality.
q GOAL 5
Improve Maternal health.
s
q GOAL 7
Ensure environmental Sustainability.
q GOAL 8
Develop A Global Partnership For Development.
Goals are set of steps toward creating global poverty. Specifically once accomplished, the world will see:
v The amount of people living on less than a dollar a day, cut in half.
v Every single child completing at least a primary education.
v Equal numbers of boy, and girls in school everywhere in the world.
v Two-thirds fewer children dying before they reach the age of five.
v 73% fewer women dying in childbirth.
v A reversal of the spread of AIDS, malaria, and other diseases.
v 50% fewer people without sustained access to safe drinking water and
v A cleaner and healthier environment for our children and grandchildren.
The Goals are not too ambitions, the world has the resources and the know-how to achieve them, even in Nigeria there are technically and financially within our reach, but only if governments from both developed and developing countries take concrete and urgent action, as agreed upon when signed the Millennium Declaration.
This is our own local action plan to hold government accountable for keeping their promises by using the media, as the most powerful communication tools.
However, it is the primary responsibility of developing countries (including Nigeria) to achieve the first seven Goals covering poverty, hunger, education, health, the environment and woman’s rights.
PLEASE HELP! Take action today, to support the MDGs. Here are some examples of our actions plan, that to use for the MDGs attainment to make sure our government, peoples and all other stakeholders lives up to these promises to us-ITS CITIZENS !
Ø Our media slogan shall be
:” SPEAK OUT AGAINST UNKEPT PROMISES”
Ø MEDIA CAMPAIGN FOR MDGs
: to tell people about the Millennium Development Goals, most officials and people don’t know that our government agreed to achieve the MDGs by 2015 and we need your help (THE MEDIA) getting the word action known.
Ø OPEN FORUM ON MDGs
: for any meaningful progress on the Millennium Development Goals in Nigeria we are planning to open a frank exchange dialogue on the issues at stake. We need to use the media to sensitize and scrutinize our government’s position to the people on an ongoing basis, to assure that they are in line with what they signed the Millennium Declaration.
Ø A MEDIA PLAN ENGAGE IN POLICY CHARGE.
:adapt poverty reduction strategy plans to achieve the Millennium Development Goals in the national context, for the friendly document that content NEEDS, SEEDS, LEEDS, NACA, SACA and LACA.
_ involve civil society groups, Youths and other stakeholder in formulating and implementing national development priorities, policies and plans.
_ to make sure that adequate recourses are allocated to provide quality public services to all Nigerian citizens.

We hereby soliciting for MEDIA PARTNERSHIP with your media outfit in advocating for and supporting the attainment of the MGGs as a social responsibility by giving us at least “10-15mins” air time slot to sensitize and report to the public the MDGs activities and events.
The initiator of this project as a young person, make this commitment to the goals on outstanding contribution of importance , not only because he is of concern but because our generation is so severely affected by poverty. With 10 million young people currently living with HIV/AIDS, 238 million young people living on less than 1 dollar per day and 133 million young people not being able to read or write, it’s evident that your media support and participation, on the MDGs shall go a long way and help the Nigerian youth, to gain and enjoying the implementation of the MDGs by 2015.
The Millennium Development Goals are, best chance to end poverty in our country NIGERIA, so that the effort of our HEROES shall not being in vain. Please support us.
